However, I would like to comment in particular about the last one to test reaction for the line I’m writing about during this lockdown.

“Why is there a universe”? Leaving aside that there are probably many universes, the question certainly applies to planet Earth and the its evolutionary progress, culminating, thus far, in humans, being a very problematical species. My question is: Why has the Creator evolved a living being who can think, and has an organ like the brain that can be aware of yet another dimension, which, for the sake of shorthand, can be called ‘spirit’?

Given that we readers agree that there is not a No-God, automatic, process in existence, then we must posit the notion that there is a Creator. By the very fact that all humans who have ever lived have shown behaviours which acknowledge this ( from cave markings onwards) in spite of scientists (now) not being able to find where such a notion resides, has come from, or goes to when physical death occurs. So, if we are a culmination of the incredible evolution process that has happened at the desire of its Creator, isn’t it strange that we humans are so prevaricative, obstinate, quarrelsome and complain to the Creator endlessly, especially about our sufferings? Why would we be created like this? Why can’t we just live in a perfect Life of Light and Love?

The Bible is crammed full of tales and parables stating the Creator’s need that humans HAVE to choose — by themselves. From Adam and Eve, who are left alone by God, to choose between Good and Evil, people have been faced with the same dilemmas.

This solves the ‘suffering’ question straight away: To choose, there has to be 2 things from which to choose: Good and Evil. If we never knew suffering, how would we know paradise? Thus the example of even the human Jesus had to suffer to show us.

So why? Jesus was resurrected and rose to Heaven as a re-incarnation. God wants that for each one of us. He needs us to be able to be re-incarnated. Hence, now, when we start to learn so much about quantum energies and behaviour, we can see the parable: by following Good, we are honing our quantum energies so that they can be combined within God’s Glory. Those who turn away from God, hone their energies so that they would contaminate God’s Glory. Those energies will swirl back into the galactic spirals to try again ( nothing is wasted on the finite planet earth).

God needs us to be companions in the evolution. We have to hone our chemistry and spiritual energies to enable this to happen. As Rowan Williams has writtten: “we on Earth are finite; God is infinite”

Thank you for taking the time and effort to write such a lovely message — I found it very encouraging!
Very interesting that you worked at the BBC on such some very contemporary media formats — I am sure there is many a church that could use your experience in these days of “everything online” 🙂

I’ve been a Christian since ‘94 and am currently enjoying (and benefiting from!) Nicky Gumbel’s Bible in a Year. Last week I found myself praying for “some kind of Christian magazine” — no idea what I was asking for really but within half an hour, without thinking anymore about it, I’d stumbled on your 7 minute website.
It was just what I was looking for even though I wouldn’t have been able to put it into words!
I have also said goodbye to the BBC this year, where I worked on podcasts and broadcast audio dramas plus some features for over 12 years.
With some understanding of the effort it takes to pull such content together I want to thank you for your time and effort with 7 minutes.
Thank you. It is very much appreciated.

Hi Angela — Thanks very much for your encouraging comment — this blog came from a chance meeting with Ruth Bacewicz at the Faraday Institute who I know you know. And yes thank God He is not hackable!

Hi Stephen — thx for this. No I had not come across Dr Ross. Have been checking out his seminar just now on the different dimensions of time. Brain stretching — but fascinating!

Interesting article — have you come across Dr Hugh Ross, a Canadian astrophysicist and a Christian — if you haven’t take a look at this video of him explaining multiple time dimensions — amazing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW2QAJAjCxQ

Thanks for the thought that has gone into this — far beyond anything I could even imagine but so enlightening. How wonderful that God can’t be hacked! Isn’t He beyond amazing!
I love these blogs — keep them coming. They always put into words things which are so difficult to express.
